A floating vanity is a great way to add storage without taking up too much space in a small bathroom. This functional addition is stylish and offers an opportunity to customize the look and feel of your bath by choosing the height of the vanity cabinet.
When installing a floating vanity cabinet, we recommend consulting a professional if you are unfamiliar with installing bathroom fixtures.
For the following floating vanity installation instructions, it is assumed that any old fixtures have been removed and that the water supply lines and drainpipe are in place.

Estimated time: The estimated time for this project can be anywhere from a few hours to a few days, depending on if you'll need to open your wall to place backing to support the vanity.
To get started with the process of installing a floating vanity, first outline the location on the wall where your vanity will sit.
Be sure to subtract the thickness of the countertop from the finished height of the vanity and draw a level line at that dimension from the floor.
Locate and mark the location of the wall studs to which you will fasten your vanity. You can find studs by listening for a solid sound as you knock on the wall or by using a stud finder.
Mark where you locate the studs using a pencil. As you make your marks, make sure you’ve accounted for the height of the vanity from the floor.
Note: If the studs in your bathroom do not line up to the mounting location for your vanity, wood blocking can be installed between the studs using standard 2 x 4s.
Make sure you have another person available to help you mount and secure the floating vanity. Use a few buckets and pieces of wood to raise the vanity to the right spot on the wall, where you previously made pencil markings.
Thread the mounting brackets supplied with your vanity. Drill pilot holes and mount the vanity into place by drilling deck screws into the wall studs. Double-check that everything is lined up and level for a clean and stylish finish. Place a few items inside the vanity to ensure it is secure and holds up well.
Note: Deck screws are the materials that will come with your floating vanity cabinet when purchased from Signature Hardware.
Once the vanity is securely attached to the wall, finish the installation by attaching any drawers or doors, if not already attached. Use a screwdriver to adjust the position of the vanity doors as needed. Insert any drawers and install handles or knobs to finish the look.
Once your floating vanity is secured to the wall, finish the project by installing the sink or new vanity top. Work with a plumber if you do not have general knowledge of plumbing to avoid any water issues in your bathroom.

To ensure your vanity can handle the weight of your daily essentials do some research on the vanity itself, consider the weight of your essentials, and utilize toggle bolts or drywall anchors built to handle a specific weight capacity.
While floating vanities can be installed at any height, the typical distance is about 28” to 36” from the floor to the top of the countertop.
